Description

The competition aims to promote creative activities of those who make movies in Second Life to create an indigenous filmography specific of the Metaverse who identify as independent Art to continue its development over the years as did the film real.

Participation in the Contest is subject to acceptance of the rules set out in Regulation through the registration site http://www.slitaly.com/immersivafestival from Monday 3 August 2009 until the end of last delivery on Saturday 12 September 2009.

Orange Island, the Museum of Second Life Photography and Koinup are pleased to announce a new summer photo competition: the H2O Contest. The themes are ‘Water‘ and ‘H2O‘and photographs can show any Second Life sim.

From Thursday 2nd July to Friday 10th July at midnight, you can upload up to five entries. A panel of five judges will choose the 18 best entries, which will be displayed from the 14th of July at both the Museum of SL Photography and the Orange Island Photo Gallery.

The panel will then select three photos among the 18 finalists. The winners will be announced on Orange Island on Friday, 31st July, at 10am SLT.

The winners will get Linden Dollars prizes and a chance to exhibit their work at the MoSLP and the Photo Gallery during the whole of August. As a bonus, the overall winner will be invited to talk about his work at a photo session during the summer.

1st prize: L$9000 and 9 photographs in the exhibition

2nd prize: L$6000 and 6 photographs in the exhibition

3rd prize: L$3000 and 3 photographs in the exhibition

The exhibition will be officially opened with live music at the Museum at a date to be announced. Join the Koinup, Orange Island or Museum of SL Photography groups to be notified of these events.

Machinima

La parola machinima è l'abbreviazione di machine cinema. Si tratta di una tecnica per fare video e film in animazione tridimensionale che non richiede un’elaborazione di rendering, ma sfrutta in presa diretta gli ambienti e i personaggi di videogiochi e di mondi virtuali.
Per quanto riguarda i mondi virtuali, gli ambienti più utilizzati sono quelli di Second Life, il mondo online multiutente creato dalla società americana Linden Lab. Le potenzialità espressive della tecnica machinima unite alla facilità di costruire oggetti, fondali, personaggi, ecc, di Second Life apre una nuova frontiera al cinema del futuro.

INTRODUCING GLEMAN JUN

After finishing his modelling studies at Second Learning (Italy) and some experience as a builder, he decided to completely devote himself to Art, the great passion he has shown since his childhood in RL. Fostered by the art dealer of Second Learning, Mr. Lion Igaly, he held his first building exhibition in "La Piramide" at the age of 4 months. The good results achieved on that occasion gave him the motivation to attempt this kind of activity. The success of his painting and sculpture exhibitions held throughout SL, in Capri, Venice, Porto Cervo, Milan, Salerno, Rome, NY, Paris, and others lands, soon attracted the interest of many people. As a result, after few months, over 30 different artworks were exhibited in many galleries and museums. In January 2008, during his last period as a builder, he was fascinated by scripting (the art of abiogenesis) and texturing (how to restore fragments of RL in SL). At the end of February 2009 he had exhibited in more than 70 galleries and museums. Some of these are shown on www.youtube.com/glemanjun

ART STATEMENT

In the dynamic effects of colors, lights and transparencies, he expresses his creativity in a constantly evolving and transforming himself.

In his case, a work of art is composed of two different elements:
Vision. Is the image that passes through his mind suddenly, it dazzles him, smothering him, praises him, leaving him exhausted and full of energy. The vision lasts only a few moments but it is clear as if he had shared with it a lot of time in the same area, the same substance. He can see the outline, the geometry and its absolute dynamics. He can smell it, he can feel the epidermal touch, the chemical sensation. It is the most beautiful and sad moment, because he knows that soon it will leave his mind like a breath leaves the body.
Technique. Is the experience that allows the memory to translate the vision into a “real” and shareable object.

KIND OF ART

He personally carries out all the parts of the work: design, analysis, modeling, script, texture. Also the textures are often created in SL and then processed through Gimp.
